Back On The Good Earth
Saturn’s halo, muted light
The computer’s got it handled for the night
Port to starboard, all is well
Fore and aft, the planets sparkle clear as bells
Fuel supplies to bring this one man crew
Closer to the god in me and you

Sensors synthesise the scene
Into red and green on the digital display
Comet tails that burst and flare
With the glitter of your hair at the break of day
Thoughts from the universal mind
Make contact with this child in time

I have written your name in the red dust of Mars
I have blown you a kiss from the moon
I have searched for your eyes in a cluster of stars
Wish me back on the good earth soon

From this life-entrusted womb
I convey good earthbound wishes from above
From this steel-encrusted tomb
I survey the vast horizons of our love
The human race is lost or won
When dreams are ended or begun

Never thought you’d find me here
Still spinning around in circles after all these years
Bet you thought I’d crawled away and died
I never realised this mission’s classified
But the secret’s still a mystery to me
So I’m happy to keep on floating around
On my space sea
